Saad Alowayyed
Project Lead, C4IR Saudi Arabia and Institute General Manager
Dr Saad A. Alowayyed is General Manager of Quantum Technologies and Advanced Computing at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology and serves as Project Lead at the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Saudi Arabia, where he leads the Quantum Economy Project. The centre's own second Quantum Economy Workshop report lists him among its team as project lead and records him opening the workshop with the scoping summary, representing KACST on the panel on current efforts in Saudi Arabia, and closing with the recap and next steps. He earned his PhD in computational science from the University of Amsterdam, defending his thesis on patterns for multiscale computing in December 2018 in the university's Computational Science Lab, and previously obtained a master's degree in high performance computing from the University of Edinburgh while working as a computer science researcher at KACST. His research record covers high performance computing and multiscale modelling, with notable papers on multiscale computing in the exascale era in 2017, the HemoCell high-performance microscopic cellular library in 2017, and patterns for high performance multiscale computing in 2019. He also holds an MBA completed at Boston University in 2022 and sits on the board of the Saudi Quantum Computing Association.
