Marc Funk

Board Member, Former CEO

Marc Funk is a Board Member of Recipharm, having stepped down as the company's Chief Executive Officer after leading its expansion into biologics and founding the ReciBioPharm platform through a series of strategic acquisitions. Before joining Recipharm, he was Chief Executive Officer of Lonza Group, having risen through the company from General Counsel in 2008 to Chief Operating Officer and President from 2014 and then CEO in 2019, a period in which he is credited with expanding Lonza's biopharma and gene-therapy manufacturing capabilities. Earlier in his career he co-founded and served as co-CEO and General Counsel of the biotech research company GeneProt, later acquired by Novartis, and was General Counsel of Merck Serono from 2004 to 2008. He holds a Master of Law from the University of Geneva and a Master of Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University.
