John Aitken

Expert in Seabed Security and Critical Subsea Infrastructure

Commodore (Ret.) John Aitken is a retired Royal Navy officer and former submarine captain whose last appointment was Deputy Director Submarines at Navy Command Headquarters. He is a research fellow with RAND Europe and General Manager of Underwater System Services at Thales. On 19 May 2025 he gave evidence to the UK Parliament's Joint Committee on the National Security Strategy as part of its inquiry into undersea cables, and his expertise centres on seabed security and the protection of critical subsea infrastructure.
