Jacob Thaysen, PhD, is Chief Executive Officer of Illumina, effective since 25 September 2023. Before joining Illumina he served as President of the Life Sciences and Applied Markets Group and the Diagnostics and Genomics Group at Agilent, as Corporate Vice President of Research and Development at Dako, and as a management consultant at the Copenhagen Consultancy Company, later Bain & Co. Early in his career he was founder and Chief Technology Officer of Cantion, a Danish research and defence-application development company. Under his leadership Illumina continues to expand its role in genomics and diagnostics, with Thaysen speaking publicly on the shift from sick care to health care, global market expansion and continued growth in genomic sequencing.
