Fabian Hecker is a Senior Partner at Zaha Hadid Architects, the London practice whose sports work includes the Al Janoub Stadium in Qatar and the London Aquatics Centre built for the 2012 Olympic Games. The office's approach to a venue starts from continuous geometry and structure worked out together, which in a stadium turns into roof and bowl forms that are difficult to separate from one another in either drawing or construction. The practice works in the region on cultural, transport and residential projects alongside sports facilities, and uses computational modelling as a tool for deriving its forms rather than decorating them.
