Alla Guekht

President, International League Against Epilepsy; Professor of Neurology

Professor Alla Guekht is a Russian neurologist and epileptologist, professor of neurology at the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University since 1999 and director of the Moscow Research and Clinical Center for Neuropsychiatry since 2011. She obtained her medical degree and completed her neurology residency at the 2nd Moscow Medical Institute, followed by fellowship programmes in Germany and the United States. Her main research interests are epilepsy, cerebrovascular disease and neuropsychiatry, and she has authored more than 200 PubMed-listed publications. She served as Chief Neurologist of Moscow from 2014 to 2016, has been involved for over 25 years in WHO initiatives on epilepsy and brain health, and is a trustee of the World Federation of Neurology. She received the ILAE Ambassador for Epilepsy Award in 2013 and was elected President of the International League Against Epilepsy for 2025 to 2029.
