International League Against Epilepsy
The International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) is a global scientific organisation founded in 1909 and made up of more than 120 national chapters worldwide. Its mission is to ensure that health professionals, patients and their care providers, governments and the public everywhere have the educational and research resources essential to understanding, diagnosing and treating people with epilepsy, and its vision is a world in which no person's life is limited by epilepsy. The League aims to be the premier international resource for current and emerging standards and best practice, to help health professionals strengthen their knowledge and skills in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care of epilepsy, to advocate for epilepsy as a public health imperative, and to promote research and innovation. It works through specialised working groups and geographic regions, including the Eastern Mediterranean Region, grants scientific awards, and publishes documents and resources in several languages, including Arabic. Its work is guided by the ILAE Strategy 2030, approved by the Executive Committee in January 2021.
