Ahmed Al-Barrak heads the OT Cyber Solutions and Services Group within Digital Transformation at Saudi Aramco, and is one of the independent advisors shaping the technical agenda of this summit. Aramco is a reference case in this field globally for two reasons: the breadth of its operational assets from fields to refineries to ports and pipelines, and the fact that it suffered one of the best known industrial cyber attacks in modern history when the Shamoon virus struck its corporate network in 2012. The company’s experience afterwards became a reference on which facilities across the region built their own programmes in network segregation, asset inventory and monitoring of control environments.
