Sean Hanafin
Chief Executive Officer
Sean Hanafin has been chief executive of Silver Birch Finance since January 2021, alongside non-executive roles in sustainable finance including non-executive senior adviser at the Green Finance Institute, non-executive chair of the European advisory board at New Energy Risk, fellow of the Sustainable Markets Initiative and non-executive senior adviser at the Climate Bonds Initiative. His banking and finance career spans thirty years, most of it at Citi, where he was managing director and head of EMEA energy, power and natural resources corporate banking, followed by roles as European head of corporate banking at Standard Chartered Bank and head of investment grade corporates at Greensill Capital. He served on the advisory commission for HM Treasury's UK Green Investment Bank, holds a degree in economics and politics from the University of Warwick, and was named CEO of the Year in the United Kingdom in 2022.
