Marwan Albazie is Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the local organizing committee for the Islamic Solidarity Games, the multi-sport event hosted by Riyadh with dozens of competing nations across more than twenty sports. Organising a games of that shape is a venue problem before it is a sporting one: existing facilities have to be matched to competition requirements, temporary works added where they fall short, and the whole estate handed over in a fixed sequence of test events. The Islamic Solidarity Games are held every four years by the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation, gathering the member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in individual and team events.
