John Douglas

Principal and Regional Practice Leader

John is VIA's Middle East Principal and regional practice leader. Based in Dubai, he has more than 20 years of experience in the façade and construction industry. His work has primarily focused on large-scale complex geometry building envelope projects, with a particular interest in stadia. Throughout his career he has led many mega-projects through tender, design, procurement, production and installation. He spent the majority of his career working in the Middle East, Europe and North America, first in main contracting and specialising in façades since 2008. Notable projects include the Aviva Stadium in Dublin (Populous), Lusail Stadium in Doha (Foster + Partners), Montevetro in Dublin (Google HQ), Lusail Plaza Towers in Doha (Foster + Partners) and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London (Populous). He has spoken globally at façade conferences, particularly on design for manufacture and assembly, cold bending and process management.
