Gareth Davies (MSc, BEd, NPQH) is a literacy leader, author and education consultant with extensive experience in English teaching, curriculum design and school improvement. A former Regional Adviser for England’s National Strategies, he has worked with schools and education leaders to translate research and curriculum thinking into effective classroom practice. As CEO of Literacy Counts he leads the development of award-winning, evidence-informed literacy programmes used by schools in the UK and internationally. His work explores how foundational knowledge, executive function and carefully sequenced teaching help children become confident, independent readers and writers, and he is particularly interested in how to retain the essentials of great English teaching while embracing the opportunities of AI.
