Francisco Bastida

Professor

Francisco Bastida, PhD, CMA, is a professor of financial economics and accounting with more than 22 years of academic experience and earlier professional practice as a finance manager. He is a professor at Prince Sultan University in Riyadh and Director of its Environment, Social, Governance and Accountability Laboratory, and he has held full professorships in Spain and visiting positions at business schools in Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. His teaching and research cover financial, managerial, cost and public sector accounting, and he has published in journals including Public Administration, Public Administration Review, Fiscal Studies and Australian Accounting Review, on public sector finance, governance, cost management and organizational performance. He has consulted for governments, municipalities, the United Nations and public–private partnerships on cost accounting systems, public finance reform and strategic planning, and has led and contributed to projects for Saudi government institutions aligned with Vision 2030. His current research examines the performance of secondary education in Saudi Arabia using the PISA database.
