Ekrem Arikan

Dr Ekrem Arikan is chief executive and a board member of Merkezi Kayit Kurulusu, the central securities depository and trade repository of Türkiye, a role he has held since 2019. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer engineering from Boğaziçi University, an MBA from Yeditepe University and a PhD in business administration from Istanbul Ticaret University with a thesis on factors affecting corporate governance maturity and digital maturity among companies traded on Borsa Istanbul. He worked at Microsoft from 1998 as a support engineer, then programme specialist and programme manager in the Windows international product development group, responsible until 2006 for developing Windows operating systems for the Turkish and Turkish-speaking markets. Since September 2023 he has chaired the Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depositories, has been a board member of the Africa and Middle East Depositories Association since October 2024, and in September 2025 was elected chairman of the World Forum of Central Securities Depositories.
