Douglas Arner

Professor, Strategic Advisor and Research Lead

Douglas Arner is the Kerry Holdings Professor in Law at the University of Hong Kong, a Research Grants Council senior fellow and associate dean of the Faculty of Law for taught postgraduate programmes, and is affiliated with the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance at Cambridge Judge Business School. He specialises in economic and financial law, regulation and development, and leads a five-year senior research fellowship project on the role of fintech and regtech in financial inclusion and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. He co-founded and serves as faculty director of programmes at the University of Hong Kong including the LLM in compliance and regulation, the LLM in corporate and financial law and the law, innovation, technology and entrepreneurship programme. He is author, co-author or editor of eighteen books, among them The RegTech Book published by Wiley in 2019, Reconceptualising Global Finance and its Regulation published by Cambridge in 2016, and FinTech: Finance, Technology and Regulation from Cambridge University Press.
