Chris Maurice is the co-founder and chief executive of Yellow Card, the largest centralised crypto exchange in Africa and the continent's most widely present digital asset company, operating in thirty-four countries. He founded it in 2016 with Justin Poiroux from their dorm room in Auburn, Alabama, after seeing a customer face ninety dollars in fees to wire two hundred dollars to family in Africa. He has led the company through two funding rounds raising more than fifty million dollars, the most raised by any crypto company on the African continent. He graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in finance, started ventures in high school and paid his way through college selling Pokemon cards online and ghostwriting for more than two hundred publications. In 2023 he was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the finance and big money startups categories.
