Charles Lobo is senior vice president and regional risk officer for Visa in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, based in the United Arab Emirates, overseeing risk management, payment security and fraud prevention across the region. In his public work he addresses the evolution of payment fraud, noting that close to half of attempted fraud is now orchestrated with artificial intelligence and that trust has become harder to secure as fraud has turned into an organised industry using urgency, authority and fear as tools of persuasion. He presents to banking sector committees across the region, including the banking committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, and takes part in Visa's programmes on trust and security in digital payments and in discussions of regional progress toward secure digital payments.
