Balaji Rajagopalan is chief technology officer at the State Bank of India, the country's largest bank, which he joined in 2022 from ICICI Bank, where he was technology group head for treasury, capital markets, the corporate centre and intelligent automation. He has long experience in information technology for banking and financial services globally, combining technical and functional expertise with board-level engagement, having worked both at leading technology companies and in bank technology groups. His engineering and design background includes railway signalling design, project management and team leadership before he specialised in financial sector technology. His work at the bank centres on digital transformation, modernising core banking platforms and managing technology infrastructure for one of the largest customer bases in the world.
