Associate Director, Sports Venue Design

Andrew Edge is an Associate in sports venue design at Arup, working on the design of stadiums and arenas from concept bowl studies through to delivery. Venue design at this level is a negotiation between seating capacity and sightlines, the roof and its loads, the concourse and vertical circulation, the broadcast and technology fit-out, and the accessibility and safety standards set by governing bodies and by local licensing authorities. Much of this work is now done through digital models shared between architects and engineers before any concrete is poured, because moving a single row in the bowl changes the sightline of thousands of seats behind it.
