Andrea Mauri is Chief Executive Officer of Cantù Arena in Lombardy, a new Italian indoor arena built for basketball and for a wider concert and events calendar. Running a mid-size arena means putting the operating model in place before opening night: staffing and safety plans, the booking calendar that fills dates outside the home team's fixtures, the food, retail and hospitality offer, and the testing of systems and crowd procedures before a full house arrives. Cantù has a long history in Italian basketball, and the new arena moves the club and its town from an ageing hall to a venue designed for broadcast, hospitality and non-sporting events.
