Ali Abulhasan is the co-founder and chief executive of Tap Payments, which he founded in Kuwait in 2014 to solve online payment problems in the region. The company now serves more than one hundred thousand businesses, from home businesses to large corporates across retail, food, insurance, airlines and telecoms, through an automated merchant onboarding flow. He has more than fifteen years of experience in payments, beginning in the oil and gas sector, developing it with banks and financial institutions and then in telecoms, which shaped his focus on consumer experience and technology-driven payment products. He traces his move into fintech to the region's heavy reliance on cash and the limits it placed on financial inclusion for consumers and small and medium-sized businesses. Forbes named him among the top twenty entrepreneurs in Kuwait and Arabian Business listed him among fifty inspiring business leaders in the region.
