Abdullah Assal is the co-founder and chief executive of Sahl, an Egyptian fintech platform founded in 2020 with Ahmed Othman and Ibrahim Assal that lets households pay utility bills for electricity, water, gas and other services from a mobile phone using near-field communication, and which raised six million dollars to expand its household bill payment services. He holds an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, a master's degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech and a bachelor's degree in telecommunications and electronics from Cairo University. Before founding Sahl he was a vice president at Global Tronics, founded and led Offerna as its chief executive, and worked at Lucent Enterprise. His work centres on digital payments for essential services and on building financial products designed for everyday use in emerging markets.
