Abdulaziz S. Abanmi

Deputy Governor for Payments

Abdulaziz S. Abanmi is Deputy Governor for Payments at the Saudi Central Bank, with more than 21 years of experience across technology, payments and financial services. Before his current role he held senior positions in the banking and payments sectors covering IT development and governance, change management and quality assurance, and led the launch of several payment services in the financial sector, most notably the instant payment service introduced in the Kingdom during 2020 and 2021. He serves on the board of Gulf Payments Company and represents the central bank in international payments forums, having joined the Saudi delegation to the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank and taken part in sessions of the innovation summit hosted by the central bank with the Bank for International Settlements in Riyadh. He completed a programme at INSEAD.
