Two hur falcons changed hands for a combined SAR 476,000 on the third night of the Mongolian falcon auction held within the International Saudi Falcons and Hunting Exhibition 2026 in Riyadh, according to the Saudi Press Agency, extending a bidding streak that has drawn falconers from across the Kingdom and the wider region to the dedicated Mongolian falcon zone for a second consecutive year.
The auction opened with a hur qarnas that sold for SAR 116,000, followed by a hur farakh whose bidding started at SAR 100,000 before closing at SAR 360,000, a spread that reflects the premium buyers attach to the younger bird's lineage and physical traits. The Mongolian hur is prized for its large frame, long wingspan and endurance, with plumage ranging from pale to dark brown, characteristics that have kept it central to traditional falconry across the region.
The dedicated zone hosts a group of falcons brought from Mongolia, giving falconers the chance to inspect the birds up close and bid on them directly, while the auction's format positions the exhibition as a meeting point for enthusiasts from different cultures and environments. Organised by the National Falcon Center, the exhibition runs from 1 to 10 October at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center in Malham, north of the capital, under the slogan "A Destination for All", with a programme spanning falconry, hunting, travel, adventure and a range of visitor experiences.
