Two Falcons Fetch SAR476,000 on Third Night of Mongolian Falcon Auction

Two Saker falcons (hur) changed hands for a combined SAR476,000 on the third night of the Mongolian Falcon Auction, held within the International Saudi Falcons and Hunting Exhibition 2026, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The evening opened with an adult Saker (qarnas) that sold for SAR116,000, before a juvenile Saker (farkh) was presented with bidding starting at SAR100,000 and closing at SAR360,000, a gap that reflects how sharply demand can swing between two birds offered back to back in the same session.

For the second year running, the exhibition has set aside a dedicated area for Mongolian falcons, a move that mirrors the appetite of falconers across the Kingdom and the wider region for these birds and the traits that have secured them a place in falconry practice. The area gathers a collection of falcons from Mongolia, most notably the Mongolian Saker, prized for its large build, long wingspan, stamina and plumage that ranges from light shades to dark brown.

The auction format lets falconers inspect the birds on site and bid on them directly, while their presence at the exhibition extends the event's international participation and speaks to a pursuit that crosses geographical boundaries and draws together enthusiasts from different cultures and backgrounds.
