Poet and Translator

Raed Anis Al-Jishi is a Saudi poet and translator with several published collections; his work has been rendered into a number of languages and has appeared in international anthologies and poetry festivals. His translation work moves poetry between Arabic and English — a task that requires balancing fidelity of meaning against the preservation of rhythm and image. His own poetry addresses questions of place, memory and the relationship with the other, and he has helped introduce contemporary Saudi poetry to foreign readers and bring international voices into Arabic.
