Associate Professor

Md Shamim Ahamed is an Associate Professor at the University of California, Davis. His research interests lie in the energy-efficient design and operation of controlled environment agriculture production facilities, including greenhouses, indoor and vertical farming, aquaponics, and dairy and poultry barns. The Controlled Environment Engineering Lab he leads focuses on several research topics in the field: thermal environment modelling and simulation; design optimisation and evaluation of energy-saving techniques for the agricultural built environment; net-zero energy agricultural buildings; digitalisation of controlled environment production systems; and automated ongoing commissioning of HVAC systems. These efforts aim to ensure the sustainability of controlled environment production systems through the minimisation of energy usage.
