George Karaspilios is Technical Director - Geotechnics at SJ Group, with over 32 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering and engineering geology. He provides expert technical services across pre- and post-construction stages, with extensive expertise spanning geotechnical design, major earthworks and foundation engineering, geological and geotechnical site investigations, geophysics, instrumentation and monitoring, construction supervision and delivery, and design and construction quality management. Since 2008, George has contributed to major infrastructure projects across Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. His specialist expertise includes engineering geology, rock mechanics, rock-slope stabilisation, geological mapping and modelling, retaining-wall and foundation design, independent design reviews, and the supervision of geotechnical works for major highway, rail and water infrastructure projects. He has particular experience delivering complex design-and-build contracts and is recognised for managing technically challenging ground conditions on large-scale projects.
