Essam M Alammari
Deputy for Maritime Transport
Essam M Alammari is Deputy for Maritime Transport at Saudi Arabia's Transport General Authority (TGA), the regulator overseeing the Kingdom's maritime, land and rail transport sectors. Born in Riyadh in 1982, he holds a bachelor's degree in Naval Engineering and Naval Science from the French Naval Academy and a Master of Science in naval studies, and served for eighteen years in the Royal Saudi Naval Forces across postings in Europe, the Middle East and Africa before moving into civilian maritime administration. On 1 January 2019 he was appointed by royal decree as the Kingdom's first permanent representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in London. At TGA he oversees the regulation and development of Saudi Arabia's maritime transport sector, including flag and port state administration, and supports the Kingdom's engagement with IMO conventions on maritime safety, security and environmental protection.
