King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital & Research Center

King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital & Research Center (KKESH&RC) in Riyadh is Saudi Arabia's national referral centre for ophthalmology and eye surgery, delivering subspecialty care across retina and vitreous, glaucoma, cornea and external eye disease, refractive surgery, paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, oculoplastics and orbit, and ocular oncology, and receiving referrals from every region of the Kingdom and from abroad. A Royal Order approved the hospital's statute and converted it into an independent, non-profit institution of a special nature under the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, broadening its institutional autonomy. The hospital pairs clinical care with science through its research centre, alongside an eye bank, low-vision rehabilitation, community outreach and tele-screening for premature infants, while its fellowship and residency programmes and its continuing medical education division run accredited symposia, wet labs and surgical training. KKESH&RC has convened its annual international conference for more than four decades, making it one of the region's established ophthalmology scientific meetings.
