During the Security and History Dialogue 2026, Brigadier General Talal bin Abdulmohsen bin Shalhoub, who serves as Director General of Media and Institutional Communication and Security Spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, affirmed that the ministry, with the support and guidance of His Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior, operates in full coordination with the Kingdom's media system to strengthen security awareness and curb the spread of rumors.
Speaking at the event, bin Shalhoub described security as the cornerstone of society and the essence of life, emphasizing that the relationship between security agencies and media outlets is built on integration and joint effort rather than competition, while noting that security media work parallels field operations in promoting safety and that the ministry's activities touch all segments of the community.
He further explained that security media work is no less important than field work, as it delivers the security message to the public around the clock, with accuracy being paramount alongside the speed of information dissemination, and he underscored that the citizen is the first line of defense, with trust in citizens serving as a fundamental pillar for community security, given that Saudi society thrives on mutual trust between its members and the wise leadership.
Bin Shalhoub urged the public to refrain from circulating clips that could harm society or stir public opinion, stressing the importance of responsibility when dealing with security content and avoiding responding to crime with crime, while calling on citizens and residents to report any security incidents by calling 911 in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, assuring that all reports are handled with complete confidentiality and without any liability on the reporter.
