The second night of the Mongolian falcon auction, held as part of the International Saudi Falcons and Hunting Exhibition 2026, concluded with the sale of two 'farakh hur' falcons for a combined SAR 350,000, according to the Saudi Press Agency. Bidding on the first bird opened at SAR 50,000 before it was sold for SAR 250,000, while the second falcon changed hands for SAR 100,000.
The exhibition has set aside a dedicated zone for Mongolian falcons for a second consecutive year, reflecting the growing interest among falconers across the Kingdom and the wider region in the distinctive traits of these birds. The zone hosts a collection of falcons brought from Mongolia, foremost among them the Mongolian hur falcon, which is prized for its large build, long wingspan, endurance, and the range of its plumage colors, from light shades to dark brown.
The auction gives falconers and enthusiasts the chance to examine the Mongolian falcons up close and bid on them directly, a format that has helped widen international participation in the exhibition. The presence of these birds for a second year underscores the role of falconry as a heritage that brings together practitioners and enthusiasts from different countries and cultures.
Organized by the National Center for Falcons, the exhibition runs until October 10 at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center in Malham, north of Riyadh, under the slogan 'A Destination for Everyone,' with a program that combines falconry, hunting, travel, adventure, and a range of visitor experiences.
