Chief Executive Officer

Victor Raul Castillo Mantilla is a Colombian cardiovascular surgeon who has led the Fundacion Cardiovascular de Colombia as its president and chief executive since 1991. He studied medicine at the Fundacion Universitaria Juan N. Corpas in Bogota, trained in general surgery at the Universidad del Valle and in cardiovascular surgery at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellin, and worked as a general surgeon at the Ramon Gonzalez Valencia hospital and the Instituto de Seguros Sociales before directing the surgical institute in Bucaramanga. The foundation he heads built the first hospital in northeastern Colombia dedicated to adult and paediatric cardiac surgery, and from it grew the Hospital Internacional de Colombia at Piedecuesta near Bucaramanga in Santander, which over more than three decades has become a reference centre for high complexity care in Latin America across multiple specialties. The hospital holds Joint Commission International accreditation, including centres of excellence in fields such as cardiology and neurology, and Newsweek has included him in its ranking of the world's best hospital chief executives.
