Dr Saleh Al-Shadi is Chairman of the Beit Al-Musiqa Higher Institute, combining work as a poet with institutional leadership in the music sector. The institute trains students in performance, music theory and composition, part of the expansion of the Kingdom's cultural sector and the creation of specialised commissions within it. His interests lie in the relationship between poetic text and melody and in the development of Arabic song, and in establishing formal music education that produces qualified Saudi practitioners.
