Saad Albazei

Critic, Translator and Professor of Comparative English Literature

Prof. Saad bin Abdulrahman Al-Bazei, born in 1953, is a Saudi critic, thinker and translator and Professor of Comparative English Literature at King Saud University since 1984. He holds a bachelor's degree in English language and literature from King Saud University (1974) and a master's and PhD in English and American literature from Purdue University in Indiana (1978 and 1983). His awards include the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information Book Prize (2012), the Sultan Qaboos Prize for Literary Criticism (2017), the Bahrain Book Award (2018) and the Doha Prize for the Arabic Book (2024). He chaired the judging panel of the International Prize for Arabic Fiction in 2014, chairs the Golden Pen Award for Most Influential Literature, and sits on the board of the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission.
