Nora Colton

Director | Author of a new book titled New Health Economy: Navigating Innovation, Equity, and the Future of Care

Nora Ann Colton is a health and development economist and the founding director of the UCL Global Business School for Health, which she was appointed to lead in December 2020 and which opened at UCL East in September 2022 as the first business school in the world dedicated to health; she built its undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education portfolio. She is professor of leadership and management for healthcare at University College London, holds a DPhil from St Antony's College, Oxford, and did postdoctoral work in the department of economics at Harvard University. Before UCL she was dean of the Royal Docks Business School and deputy vice-chancellor at the University of East London, and taught at Drew University in the United States, with visiting appointments in Chengdu and at the American University of Beirut. At UCL she served as pro-vice-provost for postgraduate education and joint director of education at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology and Moorfields Eye Hospital. Her research examines self-selection into healthcare leadership roles and how senior managers' backgrounds shape organisational performance.
