Nasir Kenea
Vice President and Chief Information Officer
Nasir Kenea is responsible for the information technology strategy, services and operations of the Canadian Institute for Health Information, the national organisation that collects and reports the health data used across Canada's health systems. He oversees cybersecurity and enterprise systems resilience, and led the development of the institute's artificial intelligence strategy and roadmap, including its responsible AI and governance frameworks and staff upskilling. He has more than twenty years of public sector technology leadership, including fourteen years as chief information officer for the City of Markham, where he led multi year digital strategies and smart city work. He holds a PhD from the Free University of Berlin, an MSc from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and a BSc from Addis Ababa University.
