Matt Garman has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Amazon Web Services (AWS) since June 2024, the world's largest cloud computing provider with annual revenues exceeding $120 billion and a year-over-year growth rate of 20 percent. He joined the company in 2006 as an intern, becoming the first product manager in AWS history and contributing to the development and launch of many of its core services. He holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from Northwestern University. Over 19 years at AWS, he has held multiple roles, including managing the foundational EC2 service and leading the company's largest engineering teams. He served as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Marketing, and Services for approximately 12 years before assuming the CEO position. He led the expansion of AWS's service portfolio to include hundreds of cloud services and oversaw the building of relationships with millions of customers, including enterprises, startups, and governments worldwide. He personally meets with customers at least ten times a week to understand their needs and consistently emphasizes that security is the company's top priority. He is known for his vision of deploying artificial intelligence across the cloud infrastructure and making it accessible to all organizations. His leadership style focuses on long-term innovation and deep customer listening, and he drives AWS's strategy in generative AI, Bedrock, and Nova services. He will participate in LEAP 2026 to present AWS's vision for the future of cloud computing and AI, amid the significant expansion of AWS services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the launch of a new cloud region supporting digital transformation.
