Dr Mai AlZaydi

General Manager, Bioengineering Institute

Mai M. Alzaydi is General Manager of the Bioengineering Institute at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) in Riyadh, and a researcher in mitochondrial and vascular biology. Her research training was carried out at the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College London in parallel with her affiliation to KACST's National Center for Biotechnology, and her published work centres on the molecular biology of pulmonary arterial hypertension. She is a co-author and joint corresponding author of "Intracellular Chloride Channels Regulate Endothelial Metabolic Reprogramming in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension" in the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology, and contributed to work on endothelial microRNA-150 and miR-150-PTPMT1-cardiolipin signalling published in Molecular Therapy Nucleic Acids. Writing from the Bioengineering Institute, she co-authored a 2024 review in Biosensors on non-invasive brain sensing technologies for the modulation of neurological disorders. She serves on the board of the Saudi Association for Pulmonary Hypertension conference.
