Javier González Conde

CEO and Co-Founder

Javier González Conde is chief executive and co-founder of Quantum Mads, a quantum software company based in Bilbao. He holds degrees in both mathematics and physics and a doctorate in quantum physics completed in the NQUIRE group at the University of the Basque Country, where his academic profile is affiliated to the Department of Physical Chemistry. His doctoral research applied quantum computing to finance: he developed and patented a protocol for option pricing that solves the Black-Scholes model on a quantum computer by mapping it to the Schrodinger equation, and separately studied the modelling and prediction of financial crashes using a quantum annealer. His leading publications include work on efficient quantum amplitude encoding of polynomial functions in Quantum in 2024, quantum algorithms for approximate function loading in Physical Review Research in 2023, and efficient Hamiltonian simulation for solving option price dynamics. Quantum Mads began by offering quantum software as a service under an agreement with Fujitsu that gave it access to Fujitsu hardware, and the team won an IBM hackathon in December 2019 with a project on financial data simulation using a quantum Boltzmann machine. He has stated publicly that his ambition is to make Bilbao a European reference point for quantum computing.
