Hamed bin Aqeel

Novelist, Poet and Critic

Hamed bin Abdulhadi bin Aqeel is a Saudi poet, critic and novelist, born in Bani Saad south of Taif on 21 July 1974. He began publishing in the newspaper Al-Yaum in 1993 and then in Okaz, with his work appearing since across Arab newspapers and periodicals. His novel Al-Rawaqi is the first Saudi novel translated into Greek (2024); his other work includes Sira Iftiradiyya: Masih and writing on criticism and reception aesthetics. In late 2008 he co-founded Dar Jidar for Culture and Publishing in Alexandria with the poet Khalaf Ali Al-Khalaf and the short-story writer Suzan Khawatmi. He works in educational supervision for the Jeddah education department.
