Filipe Beato
Manager, Technology and Innovation
Filipe Beato is Manager, Technology and Innovation at the World Economic Forum, working within the Centre for Frontier Technologies and Innovation on quantum technologies and cyber policy. He previously led cyber resilience at the Forum's Centre for Cybersecurity, where he oversaw the cyber resilience strategy, team and initiatives across critical infrastructure industries. Before joining the Forum he worked at Boston Consulting Group and PwC. He holds a PhD in applied cryptography from KU Leuven, completed in the COSIC research group under Professor Bart Preneel with a dissertation on private information sharing in online communities, alongside an MSc in computer science and a BSc in computer engineering. During his doctorate he was a visiting researcher with the Sprout group at the University of California, Irvine and at the University of Padua. His academic work has accumulated more than 500 citations, led by papers on protecting and enforcing access control over social network data.
