Dr Fatima bint Hussein Al-Fardan is Professor of Saudi History at King Saud University in Riyadh. Her field covers the history of the Saudi state across its phases and the course of building the modern state, together with the accompanying transformations in society, economy and education. Her duties include teaching, supervising graduate research and publishing in peer-reviewed journals, with particular attention to the history of Saudi women and their role in public life, and to the sources documenting it that require systematic collection and reading.
