Bashar Awwad Marouf

Prof. Bashar Awwad Marouf is an Iraqi researcher, historian and textual editor, a King Faisal Prize laureate, and among the foremost modern scholars in the critical editing of Islamic heritage texts. He was a professor at Al-Mustansiriya University in Baghdad, where he held academic posts, and has continued his editorial and publishing work since. His editions of hadith, biographical and historical works are treated as standard references — among them Tahdhib al-Kamal by al-Mizzi, Tarikh al-Islam by al-Dhahabi and Sunan al-Tirmidhi — combining rigorous manuscript collation with careful establishment and sourcing of the text.
