Ministry of Energy
The Ministry of Energy is the government body responsible for the energy sector in Saudi Arabia. It sets and regulates policy across oil, gas, electricity and renewable energy, and oversees the sector's institutions and licensing. The ministry works to raise the efficiency of energy consumption, diversify the Kingdom's sources of energy, and localise the supply chains that serve the sector, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 for a more diverse and sustainable economy. Alongside its regulatory remit, the ministry runs national programmes and initiatives aimed at innovation, entrepreneurship and the development of Saudi talent in energy and technology, among them the Energy Hackathon, which invites teams to build digital solutions for operational and technical challenges in the sector.
