The International Saudi Falcons and Hunting Exhibition 2026 hosted a panel discussion on the documented history of hunting and falconry across the Arabian Peninsula, bringing together researchers and specialists to examine how the practice was recorded in historical manuscripts and classical Arabic literature, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The session traced detailed accounts of raptor training and hunting techniques preserved in early written sources, while highlighting the continuity of royal patronage for falconry across successive Saudi eras, beginning with Founder King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud. Speakers stressed that rigorous historical documentation plays a central role in safeguarding this cultural legacy and in transmitting it accurately to future generations.
Panelists also pointed to the strong public turnout at the exhibition as evidence of widespread national pride in falconry heritage, describing the event as a bridge that connects younger visitors to the traditions of their ancestors. The discussion formed part of the wider programme accompanying the exhibition, which runs from October 1 to 10, 2026 at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center in Malham.
