The Laqaya category, the second age group in the eighth edition of the Crown Prince Camel Festival 2026, kicked off on Monday at the Taif Camel Racing Track, where Saudi-owned camels claimed victory in eight of the 14 rounds held, with a total of 531 camels taking part in the competition.
Qatari camels followed with three wins, while Oman, the UAE, and Kuwait each secured a single victory, as the category offers aggregate prize money of SAR10.85 million across its rounds.
This category comprises 64 rounds, each covering a distance of four kilometers, and is set to conclude on Tuesday with six rounds dedicated to the Crown Prince Festival Cup, carrying prizes worth SAR5.7 million.
The festival, organized by Saudi Camel Sports and running until September 13, features total cash prizes exceeding SAR50 million, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
