Saudi Artist Hessa Al-Suhaili Unveils 'Al-Shumoukh' at the International Saudi Falcons and Hunting Exhibition 2026

Saudi visual artist Hessa Al-Suhaili is presenting a new artwork titled 'Al-Shumoukh' at the International Saudi Falcons and Hunting Exhibition 2026, marking her first participation in the event, where the piece draws on a photograph of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, alongside a falcon, according to what the artist told the Saudi newspaper Ajel.

The composition places the King's figure at its center, surrounded by elements drawn from Saudi heritage, including traditional mud-brick houses that evoke the memory of place and the palm tree as a symbol of generosity and giving, in a scene that brings together a set of symbols tied to the Kingdom's history and cultural identity. Al-Suhaili said she chose the title 'Al-Shumoukh' to express affection for the leadership and pride in it, noting that she employed the falcon for the strength and dignity it carries and its deep-rooted presence in Saudi heritage.

The work reflects the artist's approach to using visual art as a means of expressing national sentiment, by combining the figure of the King with the symbolism of the falcon, palm trees and traditional architecture, to produce a painting that evokes belonging, loyalty and pride in roots. Her participation comes within the broader artistic and cultural presence at the exhibition, which is organized by the National Center for Falcons and runs from 1 to 10 October at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center in Malham, north of Riyadh, under the slogan 'A Destination for Everyone', giving artists a platform to present works inspired by Saudi heritage and to introduce visitors to its aesthetics and symbols.
