Syria's communications and technology sector is making its debut at LEAP 2026, hosted in Riyadh from August 31 to September 3, through a national pavilion led by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, which brings together the regulatory authority for communications and postal services, the Syrian sovereign fund, telecom operators, two tech community organizations, and seven Syrian startups operating across various fields.
This participation aligns with the ministry's program to boost digital industries in Syria, attract investments and partnerships to support infrastructure and digital transformation initiatives, showcase investment opportunities, and open pathways for Syrian startups and tech talent to reach regional and international investors and markets, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The delegation aims to connect Syrian startups with Saudi and regional venture capital funds, strengthen ties with Syrian tech professionals working in Saudi companies, and leverage their expertise and networks to build partnerships between the two countries' tech sectors, while also holding meetings with telecom and technology firms, investment funds, and digital transformation entities to explore specific cooperation and investment opportunities during the exhibition days.
Syrian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdul Salam Haykal emphasized that LEAP has become a global platform gathering decision-makers, investors, companies, and tech talents, offering this participation a chance to showcase the transformations and opportunities in Syria's communications and technology sector and open new avenues for Syrian companies and competencies, while also enhancing technical and investment relations between Syria and Saudi Arabia, especially as Saudi investments in Syria's telecom sector grow, notably the "Silk Link" project now under implementation.
Haykal expressed aspiration to build on this trajectory through Saudi companies' involvement in Syria's digital transformation program, venture capital investment in Syrian startups, and utilizing Syrian talents in the Saudi tech sector as a bridge for knowledge and partnership, adding that the delegation's approach is to represent the entire sector, not just the ministry, including digital transformation officials, private sector, national investment entities, and tech associations, with plans to strengthen this composition in the future.
