The Al-Laqaya category, the second age division in the eighth edition of the Crown Prince Camel Festival 2026, will commence tomorrow, Sunday, at the historic Taif Camel Racing Track, featuring total prize money of SAR10.85 million distributed across three days of competition, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The category comprises 64 races, each spanning 4 kilometers, amounting to a cumulative distance of 256 kilometers over the three-day period, with the festival running under the patronage of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and organized by the Saudi Camel Racing Federation.
The Al-Laqaya races will conclude next Tuesday with six rounds dedicated to the Crown Prince Camel Festival Cups, offering SAR5.7 million in prizes, while the overall festival, which continues until September 13, boasts prize money exceeding SAR50 million.
Beyond the sporting spectacle, the festival underscores camel racing as an authentic heritage and a significant economic sector, driving tourism and commerce in Taif and reinforcing Saudi Arabia's global standing in the sport, as the event attracts participants and enthusiasts from across the region.
